Appeal to leadership
What does leadership mean at the beginning of the 21st century?
The concept of leadership has been subject to the same speed of change as leadership itself in recent decades. Different leadership philosophies replaced each other and repeatedly set different competence priorities for managers. Was it formerly the crackdown and autocratic leadership with a focus on small-scale standardisation and scalable productivity gains, today is about Leadership at eye level, letting go - completely trusting in the employees.
In the past, managers could rely on patents to guarantee them an unchallenged market position for a long time, Today, new developments around the globe are replacing each other at high speed.. This illustrates that leadership in today's world means thinking visionary more than ever.
Thinking visionary to solve social issues
Today more than ever, the ability to think in a visionary way encompasses the ability to solve societal challenges in cooperation with business, science and politics. For Germany this means:
- Transgenerational social interaction: How do we manage to treat each other with respect, learn from each other and live together across generations in a way that strengthens society?
- Economic performance: What does Germany stand for in 2050? What values are behind services and products "made in Germany"?
- Quality of life: How can we ensure that Germany is one of the societies with the highest quality of life in 2050?
- Social peace: How does our social system ensure social peace in our society?
- Education: How do we educate our social offspring so that they can convincingly represent these values?
- Mobility: What does the mobility concept for Germany and Europe look like in 2050?
- Global peace: What role does Germany - business and politics - play in bringing peace to the world?
- Resources: How do we want to ensure the sustainable use of natural resources and address the real causes?
More corporate responsibility to solve social issues
Based on these eight topics, companies have to ask themselves one central question: What contribution do we as a company want to make to solving these social issues? The answer to this question is an elementary part of the corporate vision. Only if Businesses recognise that they are an essential part of society and are therefore also required, to place their entrepreneurial performance even more strongly at the service of societytrust in the "Made in Germany" seal of quality is re-established.
Stand up and lead!
„Stand up and lead!" means at the beginning of the 21st century, Develop a vision for Germany in cooperation with business, science and politicsthat solves our societal challenges - regardless of the individual interests of the people involved.

Dear leaders in politics, business and academia, it is time to act - thoughtfully, strategically and together. Blind actionism, personnel debates and power and intrigue games must finally be a thing of the past in order to ensure the survival of democratic society with its values. "Made in Germany" stood for quality, credibility and trust. We should make these values visible again: every day, in all parts of our society and in all regions of this country.
